Van conversion.

I've just bought myself a Nissan Cabstar second hand.

 

I'm looking to do a conversion to it. I want barn doors on the back and a tool box. Kind of standard tree surgeon spec.

 

Anyone out there who can recommend anyone who can do the work.

 

I'm in London, but prepared to travel.

 

I've had a couple of quotes one near to £5000 and the other close to £4000. Seems a bit steep specially with the credit crunch on!

 

Maybe i'll have to stick with the marine ply option.

Sussex body bilders have done three for me over the past ten years. I have one for sale on this forum so you can see the type of body he does.

 

They where about 5k then however they are a bigger lorry then the cabstar.

 

Know he does ring me when things are quite for him offering deals, might be worth a call.

 

Let me know as it will take me a day or so to get the number for you.

i used to do a bit of welding so i made my own, but i would say your cheapest bet would be an agricultural engineer. Get out of town and find a good welder and get him to make a box section frame and clad it with 1mm galvanised sheet, you should get plenty change out of a grand.

I use a guy near me called Dave,he can do almost anything from chippers to machining parts for the Airbus A340 and he is really cheap.

He put a tipper and barn doors on my crewcab sprinter for under £400.00
