Thousands of trees felled to stop Sudden Oak Death

Gotcha. Re the Ahwi and and tractor I think so but he has couple of big Fendts too; saying that the big fendt struggled to power the chipper that well - think I can find the video somewhere...

Ooops derail sorry :blushing:

Think that tractor is way under powered for that chipper, a self contained unit at 600hp + is more like it!!

looks ot me as though the chipper is self powered and the fendt is used to pull it around and work the hydralic's (can't spell that very well but get what i mean)...

No, that chipper is pto...

Supposed to have minimum 400 horsepower input and upto 670 hp which is why that Fendt is totally hopeless.

As TCD correctly states, the tractor is powering the whole rig through the PTO shaft, running to a huge hydraulic pack at the front end of the unit.

Buzzsurgeon is right- the fendt, a 930 vario IIRC, is way underpowered for that chipper, even though that tractor is chipped up past 400bhp, again IIRC!!

It nearly stalled when they first engaged the PTO, and at one point the operator was a bit keen, and nearly stalled it whilst feeding it. Having said that, although the in-speed may appear slow, the huge amount of chip it produced was constant, regardless of how fast the machine was loaded, so although it appeared to be struggling all the time, it was producing ALOT of chip.
