Ginkgo trees in britain are nearly all male but very rarely produse catkins, the females never produse fruit and very rarely flower.

whats your best guess at the age of this Ginko. At approximately 60ft its the largest example i've personally seen. I have a reasonably accurate assessment of its age but would like to hear your guesses.

well the story goes that one of the previous owners of the state went on a tour of europe in 1860 and brought back a lot of exotic species that were subsequently planted around the gardens....we are guessing this may be a good indication of the age

I'm guessing it was a 12 year old specimen when planted, which makes my estimate of 160 years correct.

David, I am a climber,its who I am and what I do.To me using a MEWP is like a runner catching the bus I just don't get it .

 

I know alot of the guys on here are "Arborists" first and are not so bothered how the job is done, be it MEWP of climb.

 

But for me I am a "tree Climber" first and an "Arborist" second, if I had to stop climbing I'd be off.

Lol, I recon it was a year old sapling, therefore my guess of 140 (9 years out) was nearest:bootyshake:
