seems ok,with the old dropping down on the pull cord[very much similar compression to my 346]and that runs A1

My neighbour had similar problems with his firewood cutting saw, a husky but not a 254, it turned out, after going through everything else, that it was the wear on the cylinder and piston.

Must be very sought after be nice to have one but at that price I'd buy a new one haha the company I worked at didn't even use it and when I told the lads I thought they were meant to be a good saw it went missing, the type of lads were not interested in the job and probably sold it for 40 quid! I didn't stay there long.

It's not a blocked tank vent is it? Could be building vacuum and then taking a while to get fuel back into the carb.

 

It is definatly not that as the rubber grommet that seals the fuel pipe from the tank leaks

funny that bought mine down the pub for £40 :lol:

yes its a high price,but you wont find many like that.

 

mine is in OK condition and it was £180

used it today to cut up a large sycamore limb,when it behaves its a good saw

Surely that can only be fuel starvation. Have you cleaned the jets out ?

 

This is what i can not work out, after the saw dies i can re-start it on full then half choke. It always dies after it has been on half choke. This was why i asked about the tick over screw.

It is not my saw, and somebody was messing around with it before i offered my services
