i had a load rejected at UPM pulp mill at irvine, cutters were measuring with saw, pulp was too long, had to cut back the whole load, 27tons of 3 m takes a bit of hand balling:thumbdown:

Aha! measuring with the saw - only today did a fella suggest I do that and I thought to myself "you can forget it mate".

Anyway, timed thread for sure since I am about to put a small pile roadside soon; think I'll arrange for the transport the same day..

Try a Bushnell trail camera. Self contained can be put anywhere good picture day or night. Good for watching wildlife nod nod wink wink (The same camera that filmed those tigers in the mountains somewhere. it was on the news a while back). Takes up to 1 min worth of film or stills as many as you want depending on size of memory card. Should cost £100. You could even hide it in a log

Sorry but I can't see the point of this CCTV thing; night vision or not, it's yet more money to have sitting around in the middle of nowhere to protect logs?! I just can't see it working - apart from a grainy record of some faceless people and vehicles, the cops won't give a damn so what's the deal? Flak me down and educate me please...

It's the firewood thieves that do my head in, you tell them it's not waste wood yet they still come back and steel from you. Drill a three quarter inch hole in the end of the log about four inches deep, pop a shotgun cartridge in, seal with a bit of soil, And bang! when they chuck it in the fire, oh and don't forget to take the shot out first!
