PTI is a recognised cert, at level 2, thats the whole point!

i know that because i was gutted to discover that my VTA elite training, though widely regarded as a BETTER training model is unrecognised, unlike the PTI which is recognised as a level 2, at court level too, as far as i was aware!

Lets go ask paul, cos now Im not certain!

I thought all this was clarified after the poll V bartholemew case!

For some reason i had it in mind that PTI was level 3...Ill rephrase that ...that a level 3 qual is regarded as the pre-requisite for successful completeion of the the PTI....I could be wrong but Gibbon is right in that it is not recognised.....well. Ill rephrase that too. It has no recognised status from ABC or educational boards. I also believe that the PTI is required repeated after 3 years....

Anyone care to clarify the situation?

February 2006 to June 2010 the pre requisites to attend the Lantra PTI was A minimum arboricultural qualification of a level 3 or equivalent, plus five years experience in carrying out tree survey and inspection, was expected,

June 2010 onwards they do not mention pre requisites but a Target audience.

No mention of level 3 qualifications.

i have emailed lantra and will let you know once i have had a reply.

Yeah...Nice one.

It is frequently cited in personnel specifications in relation to arboricultural posts...One would have to assume that it has some meaning to those doing the hiring within the industry.

Sorry for derailing the thread somewhat Paul! :001_smile:

No problem.

I do see the PTI as a worthwhile badge of competence, and to that end would look favourably on candidates with that 'ticket'. I haven't specified it as there are other worthwhile qualifications out there and I don't want to narrow the process too much.

As an aside, if people are interested in the posts please email me your CV ([email protected]) rather than contacting me through this forum. Thanks.

Hi,

I recently took the AATC L3 examinations and passed all but the woodland management unit. This includes The tree condition and identification units which would apply to this employment.

I am seeking survey experience and wonder if such unit qualification is acceptable.

If you already have a level 2 qualification then please feel free to apply.:thumbup1:
