the one thing i've noticed with the wee chippers is the difficulty in tieing them onto the trailer,, my greenmech is a nightmare,, very hard to tie it down without stressing it one way or another,, something the manufacturers should adress really proper tie down points...

Don't look like it was welded too well in the first place

Quite right - 3 or 4 tack welds per leg. On a 1/4 ton machine!

Couldn't agree more; In my recently stolen Ifor P7e we used 2 ratchet straps going between the chute and hopper which worked very well. On the larger trailer tis a bane - one strap around the ladder rack holding it for'ard and a further two thru those holes in the bulkhead below the drum chamber which go outward to stop its backside swinging about on the road. Some degree of symmetry on the M500 makes it easier but the Gloria must be a total swine to lash-down.

i've had a mount added to the front of the tipper so that gloria is pinned at the front,, but i still then have to tie through the hopper at the back,, this is effectively trying to snap it in half,,,

Ad you got any pic's of the mount? I use a ratchet around the base of the spout pulling in forward and down and also keep it tight on the hand winch I've put on the tipper.

I have had warranty replacements for a cracked and broken infeed housing on the Jobeau. I spoke to the big boss, he said there has been some trouble with the steel quality of some series. These problems should be solved now.

So if anything breaks, claim your warranty.

Makes you wonder how Vermeer are going to sell them?!

Yoikes indeed!

When it comes to securely strapping them down - I tend to put a "wrap" around the infeed and pull down gently (but securely) on the discharge. Or use one of the dedicated tipping trailers that GreenMech make for their range.

I agree with a previous post - there doesn't seem to be a lot of weld and it could have benefited with a gusset going in as well. Quick job to repair tho.
