Alan.

This is the way I understand things nowadays.

There is a list of approved training companies

These will not train or re test you direct without a sponsor

Only those on an approved list can sponsor you

I worked for BR for 14 years, as a look out, hand signalman

man-in-charge of protection, PICOP, Engineering supervisor etc.

Left that and trained in Arboriculture, city and guilds

nptc 30,31,32,33,36,37,38,39,40,41 etc

Cant get a job on rails to save my life, frustrating or what?

Infact, cant get anything!

Hope the Info helps

,Reviving this thread as opposed to creating a new one,,,(will get substantial hits based on title!)

Due to the current climate and severe lack of work (including none at all with vast competition for the scraps here in SYorks) :(

Is it a worthy move undertaking PTS again? I got it at Derby years ago with Jarvis and now expired but anticipate at least sum demand for vegetation control/work on lines come spring/summer???

anyone members currently doing arb railwork?

You'll need a sponsor to put you through your PTS.

Your best bet would be to ring round the companies doing the de-veg work and see if they're after any lads.

If they are they'll sponsor you and if they aren't, they won't. Simples!

You won't end up out of pocket as you'll only be paying to do it when you know you've got the work. :thumbup1:
