There will be some somewhere always is, been out of firewood for 20 years- but it can't of changed that much !!!

Just the prices ..........................

Used to buy in 300 ton a year always found it somewhere, even brought twisted trunks rejected by mobile band saw man. Pain to split but hard work never hurt

2 years ago I bought 125 tonnes of hardwood (ash beech sycamore) delivered to our yard (about 50 mile delivery) for £38/tonne. This week I have been quoted £55/tonne rideside for silver birch / sycamore mixed load. The haulier I used last time wont even put a load on his trailer for under £7.50/tonne, so to get the wood I want from where i want it will probably cost about £8.50/tonne to deliver and from that you can see how things have changed in just TWO years let alone twenty, and believe me, these price rises are purely through demand. I only started selling firewood last winter and by mid december I will have sold out, 125 tonnes in under 2 seasons, and with gas and electric prices rising like they are, demand will increase even more in my view.
