So would just supplying the power head without the bar & chain get around the silly Stihl imposed rules, as its NOT a chainsaw without a bar/chain.

The Stihl policy applies to anything branded as Stihl, even down to hats and key rings. Having said that our vans and staff are up and down the country quite regular so we can often be in your area.

It is down to the dealers discretion, Cathcart over her in northern Ireland will sell me a saw but am not paying £750 for the pleasure. Jonesie tells me to check the link which is no good when he won't sell me the saw (emailed two weeks ago to ask)

Lets face it the way work and money is just now company's should be doing anything to get your custom, and these pointless rules only make it difficult to do business.

I have family living in Scotland as that's where am from, but by the time you pay flights or a boat trip they whole thing would be a waste of time. I do the odd trip to England in the lorry so that looks like the only way, but in saying that stihl's policy is that you need to be a known customer which I am not.

Am sure Mr Jones will tell us, there's rule and then there rules but in cases like this there better ignored imo. I understand why there used but putting restriction on suppliers like this surely can't be good.

If Jones or any other dealer chooses to ignore Stihls policy, they could lose the right to sell the products, and with a large turn-over you can imagine the consequences. I understand that the policy (Stihl) is to protect all of the dealers, so you have be "face to face" at hand-over. This means that you would then use your local supplier.
