Having done 60,000 in my 54 plate D22 from new I know the Nissan is a good pick up. But there's definatley a pattern with these engine failures on the D22/Navara, and it seems Nissan aren't fixing the problem and are very poor at honouring the warranty.

Nearly all of the failures are in the 3rd cylinder/chamber, people are calling it conrod failure, but the conrod wouldn't fail unless there was poor oil supply to the piston/chamber. There's an obvious problem and Nissan know it. They're putting their heads in the sand on this one and giving people huge problems buy failing to honour the warranty.

Hello mate

i've had the nissan narvara for 12 months. awsome machine loads of towing capability and drive's like a car. really good for private secoder work.

also recenantly had a defender 90 for 3 weeks and wouldn't use anything else for off roading and winching trees over.

when it comes to a choice between the 2 i have decided to save for a land rover as well. Lets say it's horses for courses and depending what you want it for you get alot more for your money with the jap cars. and lets face it landrover haven't changed in god knows how many years. not even electric windows!!!!

Just ordered a new Defender 130tipper should be ready mid september. I will let you know what I think then.

We currently use a hcpu defender 200tdi 17 years from new with 155000 miles, along with another 4x4 to tow chipper and tipping trailer combination. The 200tdi has been very reliable and cheap to run and the trailers are so versatile. Just thought its about time to renew the landrover and the 130 tipper has been a long time coming. Smart tidy landrovers are very good for the image, towing, and you never know when four wheel drive will come in handy, its good to have that option.
