John, do you ever make the set up retrievable for your groundy to get you down in an emergency?

ummm:blushing: i could of set something up but id probably get my self down quicker to be honest, as i was only using it to aid access

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

not sure my access line is long enough really, think its 50m

We're trying to get into the habit of setting retrieval systems in place on a fair few of the gangs ascents, guess it's still a work in progress. Trying to encourage the team to take the time to talk around instilling this in place.

They're pretty keen.

its quite a gear intensive set up isnt it, when funds allow il be getting a petzl id

Have you been to the one in Barnes Monkey? It is a really beasty. I was speaking to Tony Kirkham about it and he thinks it was bundle planted and they forgot to go back and removed the ones with less vigour. He seems to think its so huge because it essentially has four 'engines' rather than one.

It's been a while, maybe 10 years.

 

Uber impressive for sure, that one.

 

Have you ever seen the one at Ely, in the walled garden opposite the Cathedral?
