Don't know how many of you know Brighton but these are the ' two brothers' two Ulmus Vulgaris in Preston park. Thought to be over 400 years old (I think that's a bit conservative...?) you can get about 5 people inside the second one.

Sorry you can't see the canopy of each very well. Was in a rush. Will take more if anyone wants.

 

The Preston twins are quite something, I saw them in leaf a few years ago, well worth a visit. There's another fantastic elm up near the football pitches, sightly raised on a mound. I tried but didn't manage to take any photos that did it justice. Also, there's an humungous witches broom just near the twins in a wych elm:thumbup:

Unfortunately the council had to pollard the one by the pitches last year. There's nothing left, really but the stem. Not sure if it was a structural problem or DED.

No! Now that is a shame. I'm gong to have a look at my photos and see if there are any of it worth posting
