My brother-in-law who lives in California was given "shade trees" to plant by their L/A.

 

They want people to pant trees around their home to try and reduce the amount of energy used on A/C.

 

 

 

Not sure about other Uk cities Dave, but a lot of London LA's are proactively increasing canopy cover to get the ambient urban street temperatures down.

And so they should Dave, it was rediculously hot on my London visit and that was in the middle of winter, I was down to my T shirt at one point. :laugh1:

started this job yesterday afternoon, got all the brash and light stuff off ready for the hiab this morning and then took another taller sycamore down, these trees were dropping limbs on the road and house, the first one had been pollarded before and was full of rot, and very close to the house, it also had some fruiting bodies on the stem but i forgot to take pics for hammys viewing:biggrin:
