Davey, where abouts are you, it may help to fill in your profile then we know a bit more about you then those local to you may offer suggestions they know of.

 

On a seperate note, its really nice to hear from a relative novice asking questions and taking the answers on board.

aye dabble bit in strongman in spair time.was a 450lb telegraph pole had lying about doing, step ups

I've got some rounds from trees that have just been taken down and I'm just wondering if I should split them now or season them for a year or so and then split them?

Definitely split the stuff now. Just had to split up some rings of sycamore cut a year ago; they were like iron and it took twice the work to get them done.
