BUT a portawrap does not have conformity for rope access .

 

Also if you were to use either a porta or tuba you would still have to back it up with a shunt or similar as bot main line and safety lines must be capable of locking of and holding a climber in place . however i would not reccomend using a shunt on a safety line as the can twist to distruction when stress loaded in the event of a fall or mainline failure , personally i would use a Miller Stick-run fall arrester . or a Troll rocker rope lock

if your touch is light enough could you not just squeeze without looping the rope over the top, preventing the botom bar from wearing so bad? The AB is a great device, superior to the stop but i had asumed the rope weight would impeed it, you'll love the alp, far better, far deerer & no panic desent function, you can adjust it as you get lower down to acount for the reducing rope weight
