The only cedar I get is par for cladding buildings. Seems very light in weight I would think it would make good kindling. I think it is good for cladding buildings because of the natural oils it last for decades unlike pine.

I thought that cedar was considered an excellant firewood.

I quote,

Cedar makes excellent firewood. Cedar has a distinct cell structure that reduces moisture, helping it to dry out faster than other woods. The wood contains many air pockets within the structure, and high oil content, so it heats quickly and burns hot. The one problem with cedar is that it doesn't burn long, so it is best to use cedar with a slower burning wood to create a longer lasting fire.

Cedar makes A1 kindling

1t fresh cedar, when seasoned weighs about say 600kg

This will produce 120 x 5kg nets kindling (2 days labour)

If you wholesale them at £2/net = £240 (less cost of nets 120 x 12p, £14.40)

Or if you can, retail them at £4/net = £480

That's food for thought.

5kg of cedar kindling would be a very large bag of kindling for £2. we use 50X40 nets and put a good quality pine par in them comes to 4kg. Builders merchant stuff comes to 3kg if its straight enough to cut into 6" pieces:lol:
