Fishing [rubber worms/critters]

Anyone know how you use these rubber worm baits http://www.sovereignsuperbaits.co.uk/Lures/Soft_Baits/Worms/worms.html

 

 

Do you use them as you would a dead bait? rig with a weighted hook and spin? add a sinker and use from a boat like a pirk, or other?.............

Lee, when I was pirking last week, I was pulling up one fish after the other on rubber worms, 3-4 fish per drift over the wrecks, ended up with about 10stone of cod to fillet and gut.

PS try to get the luminous ones, better for the dirty murky waters around our coast.

hi lee, most of them look like jigs or spinner baits so i spose would be boat fished??...not really a sea fisherman but used loads simular for pike fishing and they have been very succesfull esp the ones with curved tails they cant seem to resist!

one of my guys bought a load of them over from the UK.Should be good as we do most of our fishing with lures so we'll put a couple of split shot above them and try on Saturday.

 

He's fishing now the lucky bugger.

what was the boat Andy , was it from Southwold?

 

Cant remember the name of the boat, but yes we went out from Southwold, started wrecking about 12miles out, then finished up on a wreck about 18miles out. We limited ourselves to a crate each, then chucked some into the crates for the skipper, as he helped all day with the gaffing.

And I was just sticking one on the hook below the pirk, had started with 2 hooks, one above the pirk, but it kept snagging the wrecks.

Unfortuately I'm no judge, and we didnt weigh them, but the cod were on average 3feet long, so if anyone has any idea of possible weights, I need educating. Fishing for me is something to do to get away from everything, I have no real enthusiasm for it on the most part, tho pulling one decent fish in after the other is quite exhilarating, it gets tedious after the first 6 stone or so. The way I see it is if the fish are there, you'll catch them, if they aint you wont, no element of stealth or skill really, not like stalking a prey, considering wind direction etc.
