Erudition - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"An erudite person has both deep and broad familiarity with a certain subject, often gained through study and extensive reading of the subject's literature rather than formal scholarship."

blimey,:blushing:

it seems there is much desire for the continuation of this threads theme! even from across the pond! and THATS a suprise:thumbup1: and THAT alone is reason enough for me to reconsider for if i can present a polar view of the demons of D and get that message across to the very place Shigos influence was greatest then it is worth doing.

i would also like to point out that shigo is one of the greats, a mentor for us all, i just want to present an equal argument in favour of decay, Shigos work, was all about timber values, pruning effects and pathogens, my work has come from the exact oposite spectrum. i think had shigo continued in his work he too would have come to appreciate the deep complexity of the forest ecology and the depth and bredth of the co evolutionary relationship between trees and fungi.

he said that to truly know trees we should go forth and touch them, i would like to reiterate that and add if i may to the following....

"If you do nothing else today go out and touch trees" says shigo

"and hope they touch you back in some way" says hama:001_cool:

I like that, yes Shigo was a mentor to many, but i am loving the knowledge you gents have about fungi, some of which i have never seen before. a couple we have but most of them we do not. so yes please keep the thread alive, i love learning and you hama seem quite the mentor for across the pond.

im glad you appreciate it, dont know about me being quiet the mentor, think i am a facilitator but far from mentor!

tell me roots, how important is fungal recognition and evaluation across the pond?
