Benefits of moving to cinch/positioner?

I think it's designed for dynamic rope but I've used a cinch for cple of years now on my lanyard with ap and it works absolutely fine. I try and get my lanyard taught so it won't shock load if I dropped into it, but tbh it's slack most of the time. I also use it as my ground belay for srt, as it's never in a shock load situation I don't see it being a problem. Also use it for rads when doing building access and again it's fine. But, it is designed fir dynamic rope.

what if your srt line anchor snaps out drew? and then the cinch is shockloading on a static line? which could happen as you very much well know.

maybe a drop test on this would be gd? but i could imgaine it would be fine, it mite lock too hard and give you a massive shock. as to lets say a vt system or gri gri etc.

Bro, my anchor point snapped and it put no shockload on th base, it was all freefall:) it was a bad choice of anchor not a bad choice of base belay. Give me a cinch to destroy and we'll test it bro. If it is a dodgy anchor and you have no choice, I just chuck in a shock absorber. Is any device designed for anchoring a static line? Does the isc descender(ab) work well here?
