We have a Ford Ranger Supercab where i work. It is a cracking truck. The only problems i have with it are there is no low end engine power (so when you put in low range you have to rev the sodding thing to get it to move) and the suspension is a bit hard for both road and off road driving. With the suspension being a bit hard the axles don't articulate as much as our other vehicles which is a Mitsubishi L200.

Thanks for the relpys guys!

Im Looking at the newer models of each!

Possibly buying new although there is a long wait for them if buying new!

The thing that got me thinking of the Ranger is its better value for money, you get more extras as standard and you can have the Thunder package on the super cab although it only comes in the 2.5L, Also you get the suicide doors which are better than folding seats to get in the back!

You cant have the Hilux Invincible package on the Extra Cab, there is a 285mm loading difference between the Extra Cab and the Double Cab!

So id thought the Extra Cab would be the best option as im having to give up my main car for abit (i never have anyone in the back anyway) You get extra loading space and still extra room in the cab, but you dont get all the toys and luxurys you do on the Invincible! (And we all like our toys!)

Hum I dont know lol hard choice!

Also the Toyota will hold its Value best!

I am not keen on Mazdas and had some terrible fords in the past ( not bought any for 15 years ) Had some excellent toyotas cant fault them for reliability and build quality. Hilux Not always the best looking, least amount of extras, lowest power and 3k more than the rest with poor towing capacity but for me it would still be toyota all day long.

Had a ranger, older one, 04, which was nothing but problems, that in itself was not so good but the problems I had with the dealer and ford themselves means I would never buy another ford. Don't know about toyota, they get good reports. I have had several navaras and although not perfect they do the job and are a good truck but the dealer service and backup is the best I've experienced in a lot of yrs.

i currently run a mazda b2500 non turbo and a ranger tipper , both of these vehicles are great work horses , i have had the mazda nearly 5 years and in that time it has been abused every day its been out on site , in 5 years i have had alomst no trouble with it at all other than glow plugs etc , i have now had the ranger tipper a year and im really pleased with it , fair enough the fool i bought it off had not been totally honest but after sorting out the crap he had bodged its a great truck . the way i se it is if Western Power are prepared to use them for off road work then its man ebough for what i want to do .
