Excellent machine. We have the electric version - couldn't be bothered with the noise of another engine - makes logs splitting almost peaceful. Did blow an electric bit after a month, but M Large the UK importers are 10 miles down the road and sorted it in minutes.

Make sure you order the wider wedge, makes splitting most:thumbup: logs faster. We also have the cross head which is fine on up to clean 10" logs but not worth bothering on most stuff.

Nice one Gareth, thanks for the feedback mate, I'll get the wedge as well.

 

I'm not right bothered about the cross head, I have started cutting logs into flat slabs instead of wedges, they fit in the fire better and sem to dry better

i have found with the vertical splitter the logs are squares, they fit into the little nets so much better and are easier to make smaller too

 

I got asked if I sold "sticks" as well as logs the other day :lol:

We have a mignon electric,with a wide wedge.Has done alot of work.The cables break from time to time,by the valve block.Create a little joiner,put a fresh bit of cable there and away to go.

Worth having a couple of spare cables then Kev ??
