Bigs Saws & Oak Butts

A mate of mine got me this job last week, for the company he works for.

Job was to quarter these two oak butts so they would fit on their bandsaw, was good fun

 

Saw was pulling to the one side, so the on the first log cuts didnt quite match up, only an inch or two off, nothing the loader couldnt break in half aha, after a quick sharpen, i got the bigger log much more accuate.

 

These are the biggest logs i've cut like this, and doing it myself with no help from granddad was sweet, had such a good day.

 

To put into persepctive how big that log is, i am about 6ft tall, maybe just under.

we werent sure how far the rot would go up so there was only one way to find out

 

meh there isnt really that much rot, thats a 10ft length and theres only about 2ft of rot, they started slabbing it up on the bandsaw and they just cut the rot out

yeahhh it was, apparently its been sat in there yard for about 5 years, it was only when i showed my mate the big dolmar he asked if i would be able to do it, i said yeah sure, so he asked his boss
