I get totaly fixated when I see such powerful lateral delamination in the tears.

The forces involved must be nuts !

Some of the recent pictures of limbs that have failed. The silver birch at the end failed today as i walked past it. No wind and no sign of rot.

A very large beech limb that was shed on Thursday. The rest of the tree is going to be braced to prevent the rest of it splitting out. No sign of rot in the tree just a very tight union and not much holding wood.

Yep going to be reduced at same time.

 

Road one side woods the other. The road is only a local road linking bulbarrow to Ansty.

aw damn i have been doing so much clearing up storm damaged trees lately i could have filled another 10 pages of this thread with pics.... maybe i should get the camera out the bag more often:blushing:

No sign of rot? second image does not concur, ductile failure indicating a white rot? and a strange concave area just behind the cambium, girdling third of the stem approx?

I was on about the Silver Birch at the end of the selection:thumbup: The others obviously were rotted but not the birch.
