Park a recovery wagon at the top of the hill, stick 2 50 ton winches onto the tree and pull it over and up the hill, simples. If the gas board can't turn the gas off then there must be a lot at steak, so fixing a few paths aint no biggy.

Why can't the gas be turned off and the wires diconected either end, seems like they want the self employed tree cutter to take all the risk while the multi million pound companys keep out the way

why not use the gas main to its full potential ? with a couple tyres to aid in the proces i recon you could burn the tree to the ground and possibly the stump as well :laugh1: being serious it sounds like a propper nightmare and wish you well getting the job done David
