O.k guys and Girls, my 4 month old Fuji finepix S1500 is up for grabs over the months of october/November for the best image of a fungi posted herein:thumbup:

Myself and david will discuss together which image will be the winner, , the more rare the find the better your chances, but not the be all and end all, composition will be vastly more important than species.

This ones open to all, I would like to see environment considered in the shot if at all possible. IT MUST BE SHOT FOR THIS COMP, not from the archives!

Wrong identity will be PENALIZED! willl forgive if genus right, :001_cool:

end of november is the close, so plenty of time, its mid foray season now, and the best year ever, no excuses, and cant wait to see the responses.

as many entries as you like, but they must be recent, no cheeting !

Coprinus comatus i believe, found it today next to an twinstem elm that looks to be shutting down, the fruiting body was quite big, i was travelling at 50mph when i spotted it, been to alton towers today but left the camera in the car, pity as there was a good selection there including fistulina on a dead oak.

 @ Tony ( I dont actualy expect folk to get the species right in every instance) but in your case I make an exception!

I am liking the C. Comatus, if i was being anal about the image the last image would have been improved considerably by moving left a little and allowing the trunk to be a dark background to this pale fungi, rather than allowing the burnt out region of sky to detract from it. I might have also dropped the aperure a little more, just to blurr out other details a bit more.

But thats just me, nice image of a nice fungi all the same, armachair, as for you Tony, well you specificaly must try harder!:001_tt2:
