I went on ebay and asked about 8 or 10 firewood seller's what was the MC of there log's. I only got 1 sensible reply (between 7 and 12%) and that was from someone selling off cuts of oak beams and joists (probably kiln dried) Not ordinary firewood logs. The only other reply was something like sorry dont know, our logs were cut in 2006 and are under cover hope this helps .

Tut tut tut. Not very professional not knowing the miosture content of your logs. Good job we on Arbtalk take a more professional approach

I believe you can get to about 22% air drying, I would think putting a meter on the end of a log would give a false reading, you would need to split the log in half and take the reading from the center,IMO.

Spot on Dave, split the log to get a true reading, they do go down to about 14% air dry under cover, a little lower if you measure and sell at the height of summer.

He's hoping, isn't he? If there really is as much as he says, he's expecting £45/ton..and there's plenty of leylandii and half rotten stuff mixed in there, by the looks of it.
