Actually "this" Canon or "that" Nikon?

My use would be more often in forest and with trees. Canon has been good to me so far. But considering the Nikon too. Would like to purchase from Costco if available.

Canon

Canon EOS Rebel

Nikon

Nikon D90

Feelings about either?

Thanks

I would have to say the canon for this application, just because of the way the sensor picks out the colours. Is that rebel camera the 500d or 550d? Either way they are good. The video quality is amazing aswell, go on YouTube and watch some vids on fullscreen.

i'd go cannon too,, but it's down to user preference alot, have you used both brands? how do you get on with the menu systems?

personally can't get on with nikon, ben a cannon fan for years,, we have a 500d and it's VERY good.. also use a G9 plenty too

Ah hah ... The Brits & others are awake now.

Just got up myself on this side of the globe. Was reading about lenses last night until my head felt ready to explode.

just to add to your headache, you should consider this wide angle lens with the canon for some awesome landscape pics of the forest, or to fit as much of a redwood in as possible. Sigma Imaging (UK) Ltd

Somewhere along the line I'm also itching to try a fish-eye lens too.

I've seen several very interesting giant sequoia and coast redwoods photos online done with that type lens.

G11 is the mutts nuts as long as you dont need super wide or super zoom shots,, i use my G9 more than anything else as it's small enough to always have with you

the canon pro lense 16-35mm is the dogs danglies for wide angle,, the mountain photog choice..
