Dare I say it ?!

 

Oregon bars (not chains) seem to have reduced in quality. I only say this because this has come up in conversation with other users in the last wee while... Bars don't seem to last as long - as if the metal is softer...:confused1:

i've noticed this to, bought my granddad a 20" oregon bar for his 440 a while back and it has certainly worn quicker than the old stihl one that was on there

alsooooooo was talking to an old time timber faller and he said stihl used to make a bar that lasted for literally ever! they stopped making them because apparently they were to strong, so people werent replacing them as often, so they werent making as much money as they could... well thats the story i heard ahhaha

Its often the case mate, chainsaw files dont last aslong as they used to. :thumbdown:

I have always preferred stihl chain over oregon till they brought out their new stuff at the end of last year, with bigger teeth and steeper angle of top plate, now i wont look at stihl.

 

Although i cant comment on the longevity of stihl or husky bars, I do rate the oregons over stihl, as they dont kick back as much when using the nose of the bar. The stihls have a very flat nose and quite a sharp top corner comapred to the oregons.
