These were all from a relatively small area called Sandy Heath, it just behind the Spaniards Pub on Spaniards Road.

Mainly Oak, but the kety is that there are piles of dead wood & rings that Ive been habitating in there for years that are exploding.

That & a trawl through the south & north woods of Kenwood would deliver for sure.

Is the other photographer a fung hunter or after things of a more general nature.

Either way, it's photogenic heaven in them there woods

ive got a sneaky suspicion i know what that curly shroom is too, the white thing with spiny spore surface, when i find it in the book will shout!

Came across in the lit the other day & forgot about it, so had to go take a look again.

Think they are Helvella latispora - saddle fungi.......

62 records according to FDRBI

I always think that these records only point out how few people out there are actualy looking and have the knowledge to make an acurate record.

With all the aged mycological population and few rising stars, it really is vital we push this subject, and push it hard.

You make a valid point.

Although rare, there's has to be more robustus around than the 55 records suggest.

Species data - British fungi

But going over some of the others, I also wonder how many are incorrectly identified.

The Ischno/Gleoe example.

Very similar at a visual level, similar host etc......

It's relatively easily done.

With only 5 taxonomists in the Uk.

The subject is very under managed.
