Spotted these whilst out and about today, the failure was in the middle of the local park, girlfriend actually spotted it, i think im rubbing off a bit on her haha!

Lime failure, pretty hollow inside, could get my head in at the bottom and was hollow as far as i could see even with a light. Dropped pretty much half of its crown, seemed otherwise healthy.

Some FBs on an oak aswell, couple of the buttresses seem to be a bit worse for wear. From what my fungi book tells me, are these Ganoderma resinacium?

Not sure if the Gano is an issue here. Seems to be a failure of an old pollard union. I could be wrong though.

:dito:

Although I'll go down the inclusive bark, co dominant stem route.

The gano is on a different tree to the one with the failure. It seems like there was a rot pocket formed on the failed limb along with some included bark.

There were some strong winds blowing today. Very gusty.

Well I'll go by what you say Hama. I used my new Collins fungi book and I thought it was a gano. But I'm still not very clued up about which fungi do what. As in when they come out to play!
