how do you get the jack in? do you just bore a jack shaped hole in the back, that cant be easy:confused1::001_smile:

 

but with some of the lowering devices you have to cut the same size hole i remeber seeing a pic of someone cutting it on here

the lowering devices i have seen you just cut a flat edge on the trunk, i am not criticising just wondering what the technique is:001_smile:

 

No i know im sure i saw someone do the some cut as that for a lowering device on here maybe not:001_smile:

Good bit of video there Ian.

 

 

 

Personally would have cleared the exit zone from behind the tree, before felling.

 

Looked to be too many trip hazards, that could hinder a quick departure :001_smile:

Cut a triangle hole like thingy just the size of the jack then try if it fits, if not cut a bit more. Its easy, go on you know you want to try it.:thumbup:

you bore in at a angle and cut a triangle section out so your two boreing cuts meet, it should just pull out easy if not hit with a hammer will soon knock it loose. on bigger trees you can afford to just cut a whole box out the whole width of the back and stick a line of jacks under it. :thumbup:
