I have wanted to see Inonotus hispidus on apple for so long, fingers crossed!

 

Or something completley unexpected perhaps, like P. dryinus.

 

Iether way, an apple tree of 100 years in age would be an interesting tree, lichens etc.

 

as promised hama got a couple pics for you.

are you sure they are 100 year old?

 

and awsome bracket of hispidus on apple, oh happy days! love it, my life is completed.

 

yep they are on old allotments and each allotment had there own apple tree planted, so i no they are 100year old, only one left is that big one with the brackets, as the allotments got building development on them but my grandad wouldnt sell his patch :thumbup:

why dont you try pollarding it first, then if it lives on fine but if it die then at least you have tried

 

 

 

lets just say it would be more akin to creating a monolith for habitat to a possible rejuvenation pollard!
