New to fixing my own saws

just started to do my own work on my own saws i guess this i this is the right place to ask ......

 

A. Where do i get where do a get manuals from like for Haynes cars but you know for saws

 

B. Where do i get parts from off tinternet

 

c. Why are so many bloody screws... i always loose them

 

d Where can i find cheap screws

When I strip something down, I try to lay the parts out in sequence, and same with the screws nuts & bolts. Get a bun tin, you know the ones with about a dozen small "bowls" for the mix, then as you remove screws etc, place them in correct order in each "bowl" so you can remember the sequence of removal.

a regular service should see a very reliable saw.

 

clean/replace air/fuel filters, replace plug, clean tank vent, a damn good clean, a carb kit every now and then and a new pull cord is all thats needed.

 

check the pistin ring/s for wear once in a while as my husky had worn right through (opposite the ring gap) and was just about to fall apart, if that happens its normally new pot/piston, possible bearings etc as the ring will snag in the ports and destroy everything.

 

fixing a saw is not rocket science, the most technical part will be the carburettor but once you understand how they work its easy :biggrin:
