lime trees any good

i have been offered a job to remove 50 trees forming an avenue .this is being removed and i will plant 100 scots pine i never rated lime as fantastic fire wood ,the owner reckons it will make good chips for his boiler .any other uses out there whats your opinion cheers lads

i would rather pollard the limes and leave them in, they are the classic avenue tree anyway.

 

are they unmanaged trees or lapsed pollards?

 

they are indeed unmanaged and app 150 years old (not my guess}but are growing on and destroying a {ha-ha}therefore pine will be planted back a bit
