Hitch Climber

Has / is anyone using the Treeimagineers Hitch Climber? and is there much benift between a micro pulley or paying the extra and getting the Hitch Climber?

Nod sent me a Hitchclimber as a prize and it's far superior than a normal micro pulley set up, you will not regret buying one.

I use one, i like it a lot. Like all of the Treemagineers kit, it is expensive, probably three times the price of an ordinary pulley, but the extra cost is for a reason.

Firstly, the cheek plates are hot forged, rather than just bent ali plate. The pulley wheel is balanced. The edges of the plates around the wheel are shaped so that if your rope is running at an angle, it will still feed smoothly.

If you buy one and use it as a standard pulley, then I think you will have wasted your money.

If you buy one and use it as it is intended, with the 2 biners in line, a spliced eye on the climbing line, and a long enough hitch so that it doesnt catch on the top biner and drop you unexpectedly, then i think it is a great piece of kit.

A mate of mine has one and he thinks its the best thing out there. Looks and sounds fantastic. Might see if i can pinch his for the week to have a go. Cheers Fellas

Worth a try before you buy. I would never lend mine out, I would be lost without it. In fact, I might buy another one this summer, just in case!

i have one but prefer the flexibily a standard pulley offers me.

I know, I want a black and green one to go with a green and blue tachyon, but I cant get the green rope unless I import it myself from the states. Red and orange is just so last season!

He owes me from the help i've given him with work, for free. They must be pretty damn good if your getting another. Think i'll just buy one. I know there's the woodfest in St asaph in a month so maybe i'll get a deal there.

today i left my trusty shunt in the truck and tried the hitch climber along with the vt. I found that it was very close to my body which at first was a bit awkward but im used to using the shunt. it tendered really well and was realy good for branch walking were as the shunt can be a bit jerky. i thought that i might be takng a risk by using it for the first time on a 30% reduction on a big beech but once i got used to it didnt give it too much thought. ill certanly try it again, and can quite easily see myself changing my climbing system once again.:wave:
