I was lucky enough to be invited round for a tour today. Very interesting day and lots and lots of wood. This place is the largest user of electricity in Scotland using 1% of the total for us and uses 10,000m3 of fresh water a day. The new steam generator gives them 55% of their use.:thumbup1:

Some intersting pics there Stevie.

What is the tonnage of timber that goes through the place?

250 loads a week for the pulp , and the woodfuel side of things is approx 4000ton in that big shed and that lasts about a month. All the sawdust, bark and sludge from the pulp side goes into the burner to create the power, the power side of things has been running a year now and cost 70million, UPM are the largest invester in Scottish industry by far. Tillhill supply all the wood for the mill although they do take in recycled timber and sawdust from other companies, i spoke to the head guy about running chip, timber and brash to them and they think it could be an option, they would prefer lots of small depots around the area but it isnt happening, so i am going to see what i can get sorted for myself and see if i could make the math work:001_smile:

ps i never took notes today so the quantities i have quoted above are not exact:biggrin:
