General internet security programs (mcafee, kapersky etc) tend to be crap at finding malwares and adware type stuff

i have spyware doctor running aswell as mcafee

download the free trial here http://www.pctools.com/spyware-doctor/

when installing, make sure you untick the box that says 'always check for updates' (or something like that)

once installed, go to settings and untick the update option

then click register on the left and put in this

License Name: Robert Boetticher

License Code: 57BA-A2D0-3871-E9CD-CBB6-E455-6CAC-E285-6BB0-84BB

it is important to not update as this will invalidate the licence

Best spyware is this.

Spybot - Search & Destroy - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com

There are others inc Spywarebot which sounds v similar but is a dodgy programme as are many of the registry cleaners.

SpyBot Search and Destroy is proven.

Avast (for viruses), Spybot S&D (for adware, spyware, malware etc) and Piriform C-Cleaner (for junk) will cover all bases.

ok, so i can run spybot and whichever one off the first 2 i diddnt just delete together and they wont interfere right?

whats the thing of yours alex? can that be run together with what ive just downloaded?

Go for Spybot S&D; it has a resident scanner which works in the background. It is important to update and immunise weekly tho - easy on screen display.

Uninstall AVG :sneaky2: (not just the shortcut)

Piriform C cleaner is handy when the machine slows down thru junk over time.
