got some welding to do soon to various bits and pieces, not interested im mig i want proper oxy-acetylene, i know obvious bits like chaining them up etc but theres something telling me they cant be kept at home, is this right? any idea how much a set up costs? they dont have to be the big bottles as smaller ones would take up less room if they are available. any help / advise appreciated. Ed.

its for welding chassis and other heavy bits as well as heating/expanding metal and cutting, im quite happy welding with oxy-acetylene unlike mig which im not very good with, i believe it gives a better weld if done properly. Dean would you mind letting me know how much you pay for rental and if thats for the whole set or just the bottles? thanks

I just rent the bottles Ed

I've got the original invoice which is 2008

Oxygen size E (small) £44 per year

Acetelene size K (small) £44 " "

Argo shield for mig size X £51 ""

My small size bottles are kept in my shed ,approx 20m from my back door, boc never ask where or how i keep them when i renew the rental every year.

I kept my bottles in a garage with no problem, I think BOC like them to be in a "secure" compound ie garage, shed etc, so long as it is lockable.

The price was very similar to those quoted by Dean and I bought all gear online, inclucing all welding rods, nozzles etc.
