Etesia Pro 51 k engine / carb problems

Morning folks,

been meaning to ask this for a while, I have an Etesia Pro 51k mower which was bought second hand a while back and has been in the local workshop to remedy the problem I'm gonna describe now. ( they didnt fix the problem and tried to blame me for the priveledge )

The mower ticks over perfectly and drives pretty well too, but as soon as it encounters grass and is set relativley low the machine struggles massively, ie, the revs drop and it drives like a slug, however lift the height and it pretty much drives and cuts as I would expect.

I have adjusted the drive cable and it has tightened up the drive belt a bit, but still the same old problem ??

The carb has been sonically cleaned by the workshop and a new air filter fitted, for which they releived me of £125, the mower wasn't tested on grass by the shop as they say it is a safety risk, flicking up stones etc, even though I was shown it working on a mixed gravel and concrete hardstanding.

So do we have any ideas men ?

Workshop name by pm to anyone in the area who likes value for money

Im sure you know to slow down when you hear the engine start to loose revs.

i have found in the past that when you change mowers because they cut at a different hight from the previous one that they really strugle the frist couple of times you cut an area.

It could be something to do with the engine speed governor not working properly.

Basically its some linkages that open or close the carb depending on the speed of the engine.

When a load is put on the engine it slows down which through central fugal force moves a couple of linkages that open the throttle on the carb. If none of the above is working properly they you a trying to cut on something like a 1/4-1/3 of throttle.

Did you manage to get it sorted?

You the linkages i was talking about aren't really part of the carb. They might just be bent or not connected properly. What should happen is if you put the engine on full throttle without it running the butterfly in the carb should be fully open. When you start the engine the butterfly should close but not fully. As the engine gets loaded IE when it starts to cut the butterfly should open more to give more power. It is difficult to explain and also hated to see if its working correctly.
