Gone back to VT

After using the lockjack for the last three or four years I have gone back to the VT today and found it a breath of fresh air.

 

Nice and controllable compared to LJ.

 

The only downside is up 12" down 4" and dressing the knot before loading, but I can live with that.

 

The LJ was very jerky on descending or pushing off and down to another branch

I've got a lockjack and while it is good, I go for the VT more often than not! Its more rewarding to tweak the VT and get it "just so"!! What made you go back Dean?

On the subject of VT does anyone use Samson Ice tail for VT cord ?

i have used it. id describe it as 'just ok'. but thats just me, i know one user(think maybe jarnii) rates it highly....everythings worth giving a try at least once

What cord and size of cord do you used Steve ?

8mm only. at the moment im switching between marlow double braid, roblon, and my last piece of armor pruss. the liros hercules is worth a try too. im thinking about revisiting ocean polyester, didnt get on with it so well the first time but perhaps i didnt give it a chance...that and i believe the later stuff is a slightly different construction?

Yeah the roblon and the Sirius are about identical and really good. Ocean poly is lovely stuff but needs some fiddle time. At the moment i'm on liros runner and it's faultless at present.

Its the roblon 8mm I am using at the moment I think, found a piece in my garage. I like the look and feel of the ocean polyester, was looking at it at the show
