i see what your saying treesurfer.

up until now i presumed that my ND, with its surveying, inspections and reports units, qtra, vta, , mattheck, shigo, helliwell system, etc etc, was "up to spec".

of course i am aware that there are higher qualifications i could get in this field, but i thought that my qualifications would at least cover doing some of this work. after all, whats the point of teaching it if i cant use it in the real world?

can anyone confirm what the ND arb actually allows you to do?

looks like im gonna have to change my website...

Its an interesting one isnt it? What qualifies anyone to Consult? I think your ND does cover the principles of consultancy, however you should have also aimed to become Cert Arb (ISA, RFS) and a part of this is keeping abreast with legislation and best practice. I think its 30 seminar credits a year? (correct if wrong please).

You would be amazed the foundations your ND has provided. But moving into consultancy is a little more specialist, with many more considerations than even the most rigorous surgery quote.

I am presuming that you would like to do this in the future? So why limit yourself? Get updated and go for it.

thanks for the encouragement mate :thumbup1:

i have been looking into doing some higher qualifications for example tech cert, cert arb, hnd, but i would need to save up a fair bit of money to do these courses. it is definately something i want to do in the future, i naturally lean more towards the academic side of things, and im never gonna be the worlds best climber.

would you say cert arb is the best progression route from the ND?

cheers, chris

Chris,

Your ND is a level 3 qualification. With correct CPD you could quite easily get techarbor after your name with the AA.

Concentrate on doing some dedicated tree inspection courses then maybe an AA report writing course if this is an area you want to get into.

Providing you have a good CPD record and look towards maybe a degree you'll be moving in a good direction.

If you need help with survey's I'd be happy to help.

Regards, Kevin.
