I assume some guys on here have done contracts away from home for their companies.

What allowance ie money did you get for:

a) Food/ accommodation

b) any extra for inconvenience?

My mate does rail tree work all over the country, He gets Money for digs and an evening meal paid for, I cant remember exactly how much he gets, I know its the same amount all the time tho, Obviously he gets a van and a fuel card too.

i'm in construction, away 5 days a week and get about £30 a day which is supposed to cover all meals, acommodation and also something for the inconvenience factor.

 

it doesnt, especially when working down south.

I know it's not so much "the thing" to do in the UK, but do groundies and Bad@$$es camp out nearby or at the site? I've got a good tent and sleepingbag that'd be comfortable accomodation... I just don't know what the UK restrictions on tenting up in a public area are.

I dont think you can pitch a tent anywhere you want BUT yes, My mate who works all over England, In the summer when the weathers nice, He goes to a camp site and camps in a tent, saves himself ALOT of money :thumbup1:
