You cant use it on a lifeline though, it wont realease under a high load so you won't go anywhere! Its only a gri gri but with the handle removed and no spring in it.

 

The gri gri can be used for climbing but its still not ideal, better when used in a rads system. It doesn't have a fail safe either though.

to be honest, there the biggest rip-off around, :thumbdown:

 

there 100squids+ and only half as useful as a reguler strop w/ friction hitch, which will set you back 30+ squids.

they are very easily open to abuse and improper useage,

 

would have to agree with that mate. and you can void the ce/en conformity by not using the petzl lanyard with the device. the lanyard is very stiff and cumbersome i think. gotta be a trango cinch for me or hitch and pulley.

I didn't realise that they were only to be used with 'Grillion' lanyards.

 

I would have thought that any suitable 10mm rope would be satisfactory.
