Need I.D urgent! HELP! tree not fungus!

Recommended Posts

hi all, i was chuffed to do my first tree survey today, ive got to hand in my report tonight!

problem is the tree, Im not good with ornamentals so i desperetley need some help as i do not wish to look a numpty on my first job!:blushing:

To me its a whitebeam/sorbus of some sort on a graft, there are two growth forms on the tree, suckers at base and the top growth of the tree itself, the tree is definatley grafted, now heres the major confusion for me, it appears to be grafted to what seems like Malus? see the attached image of the two growth forms, right is the root suckering and the more pale pubescent leaves to the left is the tree. there where some crabbie looking fruits stuck in the suckers, bout the size of a large gobstopper but I suspect these fell from the basal suckers not the tree?

i havent a clue here guys!
