i know how u feel mate!! i injured my back and doctors were useless!! had every chemical injected in and even surgery!! none worked!! i went to private physio they gave me specialist exercises which sorted me out within few months expensive but worth it!!! i was paying 100 euros per 30 min session 3 times a week!! local anesthetic injections help too!! but they not always willing to dish them out!!!

Hi, hope no one minds but i'd be happy to help anyone with a bit of general advice on this. I've been working in the fitness industry for a long time and spoken with loads of people about knees. Also done a lot of rehab work with clients and without doubt the best bit of advice i could give would be to get a cheap little book called 'Treat your own knees' by a guy called Jim Johnson

 

Treat Your Own Knees: Simple Exercises to Build Strength, Flexibility, Responsiveness and Endurance [book]

 

I found the book when i badly injured my own knee years ago - went through physios etc but did not really help - read this - followed the advice and can honestly say it now is sorted.

 

I'd be happy to help anyone a bit more if it did not tread on anyones toes?

Depending on how much money you're willing to throw at the problem I've got something useful for you. I'm trained in the Bowen Technique, see here The Bowen Technique - The Official European home of Bowen therapy training for a therapist local to you, which works on the connective tissues i.e. ligaments and tendons. I had some brilliant results on people with your type of strain and it's also excellent on back pain which I know is common in this line of work. We recommend three initial weekly treatments and then one every couple of months as a top up, so it's not hugely expensive. In my experience it helps with pain and mobility. Obviously as long as you keep working you will keep on straining the ligaments but having a treatment every now and then should be able to keep you at a manageable pain level for longer than if you don't use anything.

I can testify to how good this is! My dad used to have really bad back problems and frozen shoulder. Would be in bed for days unable to move. Two sessions with someone doing Bowen technique after a bad incident with his back and he would be "95% better" and able to go back to work. :thumbup1: It works!

after years of rugby cricket and lots of weight lifting and a heavy work load my knees got wreaked pattela tendonitis a really dull ache and even laying in bed wilth the weight of the blankets on it used to hurt . i had to loose weight and cut down on the work load, but what i found that helped was a strapping under the knee cap , i see them advertised on the internet and sceptical of those sort of things i shunned it at first, and being a tight farmer i made it my self, as simple as a elastic bandage around the top of the leg just under the joint, mate i feel for you .
