I've just moved back from living in austria,,, re your salary, you want to be talking NET salary per month NOT GROSS,,, reason for this is income tax,,, i was paying out 48% JUST income tax..

 

also, if you are not a catholic, then take proof, and when you are registered make sure it is known, otherwise you will get taxed for your local church on top.. if you are not catholic, you also get a couple more bank holidays on top of the 11 standard ones..

 

what ever you do DONT SPEED on the autobahn, there is very little crime there, so the police spend all their time looking for foreign speeders

 

are you taking your own car??

Hey Western,

 

Vienna is a cracking city. Make sure you head to Shabeen's on Thalia Strasse, many ex-pat tree surgeons hang out here for a beer or 10. You'll be with good company, and the staff are brilliant. Excellent food, can recommend the chilli hot bird and the red chicken curry. Hmm yum yum. Have a pint of Stiegel for me. Prost!
