Todays job 'Death of a Poplar'

Hi folks, we removed this poplar today. It was a shame to fell it, however its a case of the wrong tree in the wrong place! It was on our land and had many complaints from local residents. It also had an approx 5 degree lean towards the property...

We removed a few heavy limbs on the one side, then it was a case of pull-rope up, connect to the tractor and down she goes!

No way was that tree in the wrong place, quite the opposite imo, if i'd been head of arb that tree would have stayed! another case of councils giving in to public ignorance!

The tree had a lean , but going by the pic no root plate movement?

You did what you had to do, my comments are not at you or your team..:icon14:

Unnecessary?

What do you think? don't forget these trees are public property, the property of all of us, the poplar is not owned by the council or a few local residents!

IMO firm reasons for felling should have been investigated, before the chainsaws are called in, ''too many leaves'' ''the tree sways a lot in the wind'' or ''the tree is leaning'' are not sound enough!

i have a contract for tree and grass works with a large brewery.

The Contracts manager phoned me today to see if there was anything I could do.

Apparrently, 2 or 3 local residents had complained that in the last feww days, starlings had been coming in to roost in their boundary conifers.

Some 2000 or so of them, doing the swirl routine before finally coming in to roost.

These birds where shitting all over local residents cars. So these residents phoned asking what the brewery were going to do about it!!

I couldn't stop laughing for a few minutes.

I have said I'll look into putting some plastic owls in the conifers but the last time I did that and checked on the plastic owls, there had been pigeons roosting on them.

Anyone heard of a sonic device for bird deterring?
