I notice no one mentions using bigger steps , I use the zarges ones with the extra extension and they get me scarily high especially over nice hard roads.

I just had a browse through their website, they do look a well-made ladder. One or two issues with larger ladder/step assemblies:

1) Transportation, you need a fair sized vehicle to carry these about

2) Weight, I notice many of the ladders etc are in the 150-200kg range, given that the max a man should lift is 25kg, how many crew will you put down on the risk assessment to manouvre these about on site?

3) Cost, you can get a half decent long reach hedge cutter for the price of these.

The ones I use are their "skymasters" they get you to about 5m as steps, not to heavy and under £300 I think.

Nice hedging work you done there, most of my work is hedging, reductions and trimming and sadly must admit that i love doing them.

This is one that the client started last week and then as soon as he got his head inside he realised how much was involved so got me to do it, done it in 1 day with two huge trailer loads all minced up and jumped on ha ha

Thanks for that, and yes it is a tipper (TT105).

Really handy as farm where i get rid was only a mile away , hell of alot of weight in both loads though, then the following two days i was back there doing an even taller laurel but not as long and another conny hedge, another 3 loads from them aswell, was going to hire a chipper in but the weight still would have meant approx 5 loads in total so thought i would save some profit and mince and jump on it in trailer.

Hello all,

I love hedge work.

I use a silky for thick stems, always carry Felcos in a holster and use a Stihl HS45 because its light and I can use it all day (I'm small and skinny)

I work from a Henchman Senior mostly, it's a bit of an investment although its worse quality than an N.H.S crutch... sadly.

However, it's a good tool even if it does get heavier to move as the day advances.

Good thread!

Ty
