You can get a good deal for long term hire Matt.

 

Just make sure that the one you hire can be tracked with the legs just off the ground, that way if you are tracking over rough ground if it tips the legs stop it going over and you can push it back up using the legs.

Are they quite heavy Dean??

 

The issue I have on this site is that the owners want it to look natural afterwards, and dont want the ground ripped up.

Personally I think the mewp could track about no problem at all and they wouldnt notice much afterwards but I need to make sure it dosent sink too much.... the site is relativley flat and hard enough underneath but has some boggy, peaty patches under the heather.

octopussey are ok, a good outreach is important, the smaller the machine the less the outreach, ive only used 14m octopussey, i think thats got about a 6-7m outreach(correct me if im wrong) it just depends on the job in question really.

I'll be optimg for the biggest machine I can possibly lay my hands on, as the outreach will be key to the speed....

The cutting height will be roughly 20m for most of the trees.
